It’s common for patients to feel anxious right before a dental procedure. This is why Maddison Ave Dental is prepared and wants to help our patients feel at ease right before their dental procedure by offering IV sedation options.
What is IV Sedation?
Monitored anesthesia or IV sedation is a type of sedation administered by professionals through the vein. The level of sedation may depend on the patient’s needs, ranging from whether the patient needs to be awake and able to speak during the procedure or being be placed into a deep sleep.
IV sedation is entirely safe and may be administered either by necessity of a dental procedure or by the request of an individual patient. Anytime IV sedation is used, patients should always have a designated driver with them to bring them to and from the dental office. As driving while under the effects of IV sedation is highly dangerous, even when only lightly sedated.
